Amla Jam recipe

Amla also known as Indian Gooseberry may not be very appealing in taste due to its very tangy taste. But this tangy fruit is a "Wonder Fruit". It is rich in Vitamin C.

and many more health benefits if taken regularly. Amla can be consumed raw, in powdered form, as Juice, as pickle etc. Have you ever tried preparing Amla Jam? No..! Okay then lets give it a try. Believe me, you are going to love it.

Ingredients for Amla jam-

  • Amla/ Gooseberry- 1/2 kg
  • Sugar- 1/2 kg
  • Cinnamon stick/ Daalchini- 1/4
  • Cardamom- 3 to 4

Method/How to make Amla jam-

  • Wash Amla properly. And pressure cooker with enough water to exactly one whistle. Turn off the flame and allow it to cool.
  • Drain the water completely and allow the Amla to cool down. (Don't throw this water. This water can be used to make cook vegetables)
  • Now cut Amla in 4-5 pieces. Remove seeds.
  • Grind Amla pieces , cardamom and cinnamon stick to a smooth paste.
  • Heat a pan on low flame.
  • Add Amla paste, sugar. Keep stirring until the mixture reaches gel consistency.  (It should not be too thin or too thick).
  • Turn off the flame and allow it to cool down.
  • Store in air tight container and use atleast one spoon a day. 
  • Amla jam can be used with chapati, breads etc or with anything you like,
