Whole wheat eggless sponge cake recipe in microwave/ Tutti frutti cake recipe

Basic whole wheat eggless tutti frutti sponge cake recipe with step by step photos-

A simple and easy recipe of eggless whole wheat tutti frutti cake. Yes the cake is made from whole wheat flour and is egg-less. The texture of the cake is soft and moist.

Ingredients for tutti frutti cake(1 cup: 150ml)


  • Whole wheat flour- 1.5 cups
  • Milk- 1 cup
  • Powered sugar- 1 cup/ According to taste
  • Tutti- frutti- 1.2 cup/ As per requirement
  • Baking powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Baking powder- 1/4 tsp
  • Vanilla essence- 1/4 tsp
  • Oil- 2 tbsp

How to make eggles wholewheat tutti frutti cake-

  • First grease an aluminum tin with oil and spread flour over it.
  • Now preheat your oven at 180 deg. If your are using convection microwave then preheat it on convection mode for at-least 10 minutes.
  • Sieve whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda 2-3 times.
  • Take milk and powdered sugar in a bowl and mix well until sugar dissolves.
  • Now add oil and mix well.
  • Now add dry ingredients into milk and sugar mixture and mix everything well.
  • There should be no lumps in the cake batter.
  • Now add vanilla essence and tutti frutti and mix.
  • Transfer the mixture to prepared aluminium tin and tap the side of cake tin so that extra bubbles are let out.
  • Spread some tutti frutti over it.

  • After 10 minutes bake your cake in oven for 35-40 minutes at 180 deg.
  • Since temperature vary from oven to oven so keep a check.
  • Your cake will be ready after 35-40 minutes.

  • Take it out and insert a tooth pick or a knife in the middle section of the cake, if the tooth pick/ knife comes out clean then your cake is ready. If it doesn't comes out clean then you can bake it for some more minutes.
Eggless Tutti frutti cake

  • Let it cool on room temperature.
  • Unmold and place it on a wired rack. Let it cool completely. 
  • Serve it with tea or any drink you like. And enjoy.

Tips: 

  • You can use 1 tbsp vanilla custard powder or 1/4 tsp green cardamom powder as an alternative for vanilla essence.
  • You can use all purpose flour instead of whole wheat flour.
