Matar Mushroom recipe in Hindi with step by step photos-

Mushrooms have thousand of species all over the world with different colors and textures. It contains 80 to 90% water and rest 10% is fiber. So you must include mushrooms into your diet if you are trying to loose weight. These are a good source of potassium, so the people with hypertension (High Blood Pressure) issue can add mushrooms to their diet. Today, I am going to share matar mushroom recipe. I like to have this recipe with  gravy. You can relish it with roti, prantha or naan as per your choice. I have taken button mushrooms for this popular curry recipe of matar mushroom.

Matar Mushroom recipe in Hindi
Matar Mushroom

Ingredients(Cup measurements: 1 cup- 200ml)

  • Mushroom: 200 gm.
  • Peas/Matar: 1 cup
  • Onion: 1  big sized
  • Tomato: 1 big sized
  • Green chili: 2 
  • Ginger-Garlic paste OR finely chopped ginger-garlic: 1 tsp
  • Salt: As per taste
  • Coriander powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala: 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder: 1/4 tsp
  • Kashmiri lal mirch: 1/2 tsp
  • Oil: 2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds: 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves: for garnishing


  • Wipe all mushrooms with a damp cloth.
  • Cut big sized mushroom into four pieces and small one into two.
  • Boil peas until half done. OR you can microwave peas with little water for 5 minutes.
  • Chop onions, tomato, chilies and coriander leaves.


  • Heat oil in a wok. And add cumin seed. Let them crackle.
  • Now add chopped chilies, ginger garlic paste(OR chopped ginger-garlic)
  • Cook them until their row smell goes.
  • Now add chopped onions and saute until they onions turn pink.
  • After onions turn pink add turmeric powder, kashimiri lal mirch and mix well. Cook this for 30 seconds.
  • Now add coriander powder and garam masala. Cook for another 30 seconds.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook. Now add salt and cook until tomatoes leave oil and sides of wok.

Indian Mushroom matar recipe in Hindi

  • Now when masala is cooked well, add mushroom pieces and cook them with masala.
  • When mushrooms are slightly cooked add half boiled peas and cook them.
  • After a minutes add 2 cups of water, chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Cook this till one boil.

  • Now cover the pan and turn the flame to low.
  • Cook for another 8-10 minutes or util mushrooms and peas are well cooked.
  • Your delicious matar mushoom is ready.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and enjoy matar mushroom with roti, prantha or naan.
If you want dry mushroom matar recipe then you can skip adding water to it.
